Afterschool/Out-of-School Time

The mission of the Elementary Institute of Science is to nurture the intellectual curiosity of San Diego’s students by providing hands-on learning experiences to further their understanding of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Our 15,000 square foot STEM Learning Center, located in southeast San Diego, provides the optimal environment for hands-on learning with eight well-equipped science and technology labs, a 100-seat auditorium, and outdoor spaces where students can explore a wide variety of STEM fields, including computer science, biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering.

Learning opportunities include 10-week after-school or Saturday sessions, week-long science camps during summer, winter, and spring breaks, teen lab assistant program, girls Botball Team, and Teen Science Cafe. A limited number of scholarships are available for kids from low-income families living in the following zip codes: : 92102, 92105, 92113, 92114, 92115.
