Afterschool/Out-of-School Time

The San Diego Institute of Science and Technology (SDIST) is a new group part of the Elementary Institute of Science, which has been providing STEM programs for children in SouthEast San Diego. SDIST is currently working on several programs directed at HS students. These programs include "Girls Take Flight". A Drone Program specifically for HS girls that earns them a large stipend plus testing for a Drone Pilot License. Other programs include "Teen Science Cafe", "Lab Assistant Program" and a Teton Science Program where students travel to the Grand Teton National Park and spend close to a month camping, backpacking and learning al about the wilderness and ecology.
