American Heart Association

Advocacy/Philanthropy & Government

For nearly 100 years, the American Heart Association has been fighting heart disease and stroke and helping families and communities thrive. As the nation's largest voluntary health organization, the American Heart Association funds cardiovascular medical research, educates consumers on healthy living and fosters appropriate cardiac care in an effort to reduce disability and deaths caused by cardiovascular disease and stroke. Health equity is always at the center of our work, and we are committed to driving equitable health impact through five key areas. These are: reducing risk in women, supporting research and response to COVID-19, eliminating nicotine use through tobacco and vaping policy, helping patients by reducing chronic conditions, heart attack, and stroke, and fostering healthy living through advancing health and well-being.
