Sustainable Home: Green Building & Energy Design Competition

We are excited to present our first annual Sustainable Home: Green Building & Energy Design Competition! Southern California high school students and teachers in San Diego and Imperial Counties are invited from either the Project Lead The Way Civil Engineering & Architecture or SEI Green Building classrooms to participate and compete in designing a sustainable home. A design brief with constraints and requirements will be sent out to eligible teams on January 31, 2019, as well as invitations to attend our competition day on March 14, 2019 at San Diego State University. Teams attending the competition day will enjoy keynote speakers, free lunch, and the opportunity to showcase their designs and ingenuity to various judges consisting of local industry partners and SDSU College of Engineering students, faculty, and staff. After lunch, the top teams will be announced and will have the opportunity to present their designs to all attendees and a panel of judges. Afterwards, the top three teams with the most innovative designs will be announced during an awards ceremony.

The deadline to register is January 18, 2019! SPACE IS LIMITED; registration is first come , first serve!

NOTE: Students must be either currently taking, or have previous taken a Project Lead The Way Civil Engineering & Architecture course or have completed a course that uses the Strategic Energy Innovations (SEI) Green Building curriculum (SEI can provide to teachers at no-cost).

NOTE: In order to compete the teams must be present at the competition on March 14, 2019 at SDSU.

Teams should be made up of 2 to 3 students. ALL TEAM MEMBER INFORMATION IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE YOUR TEAM REGISTRATION. Only 1 team per school may register, if you would like to place a second team on our wait list, please email complete team information to either Megan Lacy (mlacy@sdsu.edu) or Liz Fitzpatrick (lizfitzpatrick@seiinc.org) - your second team will be notified on January 22 if they are able to attend the competition.

If you have any additional questions please contact either the SDSU College of Engineering School Programs Manager Megan Lacy (mlacy@sdsu.edu) or SEI Project Coordinator Liz Fitzpatrick (lizfitzpatrick@seiinc.org).
