The Environmental Education working group hosted a Community Engagement workshop based on NAAEE’s Guidelines for Excellence to explore ways in which we can intentionally serve the variety of communities we partner with. These guidelines, just one of many provided by the North American Association for Environmental Education, are a resource provided to educators that can be freely utilized at any time.

During this hands-on workshop, participants had a discussion-based review of the 5 key-characteristics of community engagement and reviewed tools to apply them in their own context. These guidelines are models built to fit the needs and aspirations of individual communities, with the intention of organic and authentic communication and collaboration between organizations and the communities that they serve.
